Here we are... all healthy and happy!
First off, shout out to the makers of Kaopectate. Big thanks to my amazing Mom who bought me four bottles and said, "You'll need these." We were warned by everyone. Friends, family, the nurse at NWM travel clinic, people here at Woodstock. They all said "it's not a question of IF but WHEN." After five days in India I was beginning to wonder whether I would get sick. Andy made it seven days. I only made it five; it hit me about an hour after having the thought. Oliver and I practically sprinted home from breakfast. Poor little thing, he got it too. Luckily, Oliver only had a couple of episodes and felt much better. I was to remain in our apartment for 24 hours. The school was great; they sent a Jeep for us to come to the health center and once we were checked out they sent Andy home to take care of us. Thank goodness because I could barely take care of myself. 24 hours they said, give it 24 hours. I wanted so badly for this to pass quickly. Eleanor was taking us shopping in Dehra Dun the next day...I wasn't going to miss a trip to the city! I was green the entire drive there and until I got a large meal in my belly, but then it was gone. 24 hours exactly. I realize this is not the most lady-like posting, but this is a major factor of life here. People get sick quite often. Everyone who has been here longer than me and Oliver has a horror story. I just wish I knew what did it to me. For Andy it was a tomato, but I am clueless as to what caused it. I just hope I don't make that mistake again! |
aww poor all of you but I guess it was inevitable!
